Making
Your Voice Heard!
April 9, 2003
Would
you like a fast, convenient, effective way to make your
voice heard in Washington? It's free. There is no
advertising.
A
new service called Progressive Secretary sends out
progressive email letters to congress on peace, ecology,
civil rights and other issues. The letters are written by
the group's experienced volunteers, and sent to you as
proposals which you may accept, reject, or modify and send
on your own.
If
you respond OK, then the letters are sent to your congress
people and others noted in the proposal. Also, the letters
are personalized and individually sent with your signature
and return address. A report is sent to you.
If
you like, you can send the letters yourself. Letters are
not sent without your specific OK. Your name and email are
never given out.
And
here's the best part: Progressive Secretary provides this
service at no charge because they are peace and justice
activists.
Some
previous letters include:
Support Civil Asset Forfeiture Reform Act
Right to Vote
Make Prescription Drugs Affordable
Save the Arts
Close the School of the Americas
Save Our Wild Forests!
Modify California's "Three Strikes" Law.
Oppose Flag Desecration Amendment

Bombing Does Not Work
Do NOT increase the military budget
Pay the United Nations Dues
Free Puerto Rican Political Prsoners

Demand Nike pay living wage
Stop Forcing Money on the Military
Stop the Bombing of Iraq

You
can make also your opinions known on a number of important
topics through the Act For Change website and their
accompanying e-mail newsletter. A service of Working
Assets Long Distance (a terrific phone company that
supports progressive causes and offers free calls to
legislators), Act for Change presents opportunities for
action, then provides a pre-written e-mail which you can
send to your senators (in our case Kerry and Kennedy).
Currently on their site, they have an action alert to
indict Saddam Hussein for war crimes and one to stand up
for organic standards. You can participate at www.actforchange.com.
