Dear VV
When a friend told me that if everyone in the US dried
their clothes without using electricity we wouldn't need
any nuke plants, I made the switch. Went out and bought
three $9 wooden racks. Together with the banister at the
top of my stairs and a couple of curtain rods I hang
hangers on, I find the system a total win-win. I spend a
few minutes each week doing laundry meditation, the air
is wonderfully humidified, the clothes last longer, and
I'm doing my part to shut down the nuclear power plants.
Oh, and fluffy towels? No problem, just rub them against
each other after they dry and they look like they just
got tumbled.
Now,
as soon as I'm comfortable with one change toward more
simplicity, I look for another one. To me, the biggest
one of all is automobile-dependency. I'd love to hear
from readers about that. Jane Livingston

I'm a few miles from the Valley, outside Bangor Maine,
but I lived all over the Valley for many years and still
have strong ties there, so thanks to Lynn Nichols for
letting me in on this great newsletter!
Thanks,
