I
am filled with apprehension at the thought of U.S.
military action in the Middle East during this volatile
time. However, I also believe that terrorism is truly
evil and cannot be tolerated by a civilized world.
I
can only hope and pray that our efforts will be focused
on bringing murderers to justice and that there are no
hidden political agendas that will surface during this
military operation. The United States must do its
absolute best to target the guilty and protect the
oppressed people of Afghanistan who are starving.
I
wish we lived in a peaceful, united world today. But we
don't, and as long as there are groups willing to resort
to terrorism, nations must band together in defense.
Perhaps this dreadful drama will help us all commit more
deeply to the sanctity of human life and somehow bring
us closer to universal understanding. As crazy as it
sounds, I have hope that something good will come from
all of this.
