The Pioneer Valley grieves for our
neighbors lost in last Tuesday's terrorist attack:
Stephen Adams, 51, recently of
Shelburne Falls, is listed as missing and presumed dead.
He had just begun a new job at the Windows on the World
restaurant on the 107th floor of the North Tower of the
World Trade Center. Adams worked at Big Y's Table &
Vine in Northampton until April, when he relocated to
New York City to start his new position.
Christoffer M. Carstanjen, 33,
of Turners Falls was aboard United Airlines Flight 175
when it crashed into the second World Trade Center
tower. A University of Massachusetts employee in the
office of Information Technologies and an avid biker,
Carstanjen was on his way to California to ride a
motorcycle along the coast.
Jessica Sachs, who graduated
from Umass Amherst last December, was working as an
accountant for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Boston when she
boarded American Airlines Flight 11 Tuesday for a
business trip. Sachs, 22, lived with her parents in
Billerica. During her years in Amherst, she lived in
Greenough dormitory and was active in Mercy House, an
evangelical Christian community that meets Sunday
mornings at the Jones Library in Amherst.
Tara Shea Creamer, 30, was on a
business trip to Los Angeles aboard AA Flight 11. A
Westfield native, she was the daughter of former
Superintendent of Schools (Westfield) James F. Shea.
Tara was living in Worcester with her husband John and
two small children.
Daniel P. Trant, 40, a
Westfield native, was working on the 104th floor of one
of the WTC towers. He was living in Northport, NY, with
his wife, Kathy Schiaffino Trant, formerly of
Longmeadow, and three children.
Brian J. Murphy, 41, a
Westfield native, is missing and presumed dead. He was
working on the l05th floor of one of the WTC towers.
Jean D. Roger, 24, a native of
Longmeadow and a flight attendant for American Airlines,
was aboard AA Flight 11 when it crashed into the WTC.
Nicholas Humber, 60, a Ludlow
native, was a passenger on AA Flight 11. He had been
living in Waltham.
Rick Thorpe, a Wilbraham
native, is listed as missing and presumed dead. He was
working on the 89th floor of the WTC South Tower. A
former Minnechaug football star, Thorpe lived in
Manhattan with his wife and 16-month-old daughter. He
called his father and wife from the tower after the
attack, but there has been no word from him since.
