Dear Eve:
Two comments. First of all, Eve Brown-Waite, we had
Mrs. T's pierogies for dinner tonight (December 8) and
there was NOTHING on the box indicating there is a Pierogy Party Club. I suspect this is an
elitist group and I'm offended that I was not invited to apply. We
had the potato and cheese variety. Is there a problem with that?
Secondly, I have some comments regarding
Lynn Nichol's
article. According to John Ashcroft, you are a threat to our national security
by posing those questions and casting doubts on the tactics of the
current government. It weakens us! It makes us look bad and
encourages terrorism! You must accept everything that is decreed!
— just like Congress is being forced to do.
It's mind-boggling to know that all those people,
including our own (I think, honorable) John Olver, elected for whatever strengths they
have, are just as helpless as we are in this governmental
atmosphere. Why not gag them and tie their hands behind their
backs before they enter the chambers? They have no power.
Remember how this regime was "elected" just over a
year ago? Visions of things to come......
When we hear of the special propaganda forces that the
government has deployed to leaflet Afghanistan and Pakistan so they'll see the
righteousness of the American way, I wonder if it is possible that
these same propagandists have been working on the American
people, too? How else can so many people be so off-center at the
same time? It isn't stupidity or blindness. It's like hypnotism. The
same thing happened when Reagan was in office...I can't describe
it, exactly. It was just really weird and I'm afraid to say how I felt when
I heard his speeches, except to say it was the nearest I ever got to
"The Twilight Zone."
What if Ashcroft gets his way and can monitor our
Internet communications and finds out what we really think of the
government and how these situations are being handled? If there
was ever a time for vigilance, it is now. Good for you, Lynn. Thanks
for giving us a place to express our fears.
I'm not naturally paranoid, but I have to tell you
that I have looked at this pierogy box from every angle, even inside, and there's no
mention of a Pierogy Party Club. (I shop at Foster's. Is there a
problem with that?)
