"March
comes in like a lion and goes out like a
lamb." But not everywhere. I once lived in
Uganda where March came slithering in like a
cobra and went screeching out like a monkey. And
when I lived in Uzbekistan, March skulked in
like a snow leopard but went sashaying out like
a fat-bottomed sheep and in between it stumbled
around a bit like a pack of pickled drunks. Well
here in Franklin County, March came in like a
herd of elephants!
And what it'll go out like is anybody's
guess.
But
just in case we're in for another storm of the
century (sorta), I'll be out there like Laura
Ingalls Wilder on caffeine - dragging wood
through the snow on a sled from the woodpile
into my living room, stashing it under the couch
in case we get any of those 10 foot snowdrifts
that keep us buried and powerless until early
July. Oh, I'll also be drilling the kids on our
emergency gale-force wind procedures: Duck and
whimper!
