A
Short But Sweet Bio of Eve
Brown-Waite
Eve
Brown-Waite is a recent transplant not only to
Western Massachusetts, but to the western
hemisphere! Having spent much of the last 12
years doing development work in the Third World,
she can now say “Please pass the fried
termites." and
“I urgently need a toilet.” in half a
dozen languages. Eve has lived in Ecuador,
Uganda, Uzbekistan, Israel and Albania.
("What are countries that begin with a
vowel and end in civil war?") Although
she’s been back in the U.S. for more than two
years now, she still feels the need to ration
toilet paper and often goes to Stop & Shop
just to browse.
Eve
has a Master’s degree in Public Health and has
worked as a health teacher and AIDS educator in
the U.S. and overseas. Her nickname in Uganda
was “Ayikoru” which loosely translated means
“strange little white woman who puts condoms
on bananas.”
Eve became a closet writer while living
overseas. She’s out of the closet now and at
work on a book about her overseas adventures.
Eve lives in Deerfield with her husband and
their two above-average children, two
well-traveled cats and one million, three
hundred -twenty-three thousand, six hundred and
seventy-two ladybugs (at last count).

A
Short But Sweet History of Starstruck
Design
Owners Lynn
Nichols and Don
Kruger left the New York commuting
scene in 1999 and moved to an isolated hilltop
with a fantastic valley view in Gill, MA.
Using
their combined skills of marketing, publishing,
graphic design, computer programming, network
design, website creation, music, humor and culinary
prowess they started a business where they could
do anything they darn well wanted to do. (As
long as it's okay with their supervisor, Peppy, the
cat.)
Starstruck
has built websites and produced brochures and
periodicals for many local businesses and
organizations including: The Franklin County CDC,
Songline Bird Farm, Infinity Photography, Wicked
Sticks, Lunt Silversmiths and The Cooperative
Development Institute. Clients have made their
way up the treacherous driveway on foot, by
4-wheel, on snowshoes, motorcycle (Harley) and horseback.
Lynn
and Don quickly got into all of the things that
the Pioneer Valley has to offer like: great
views, fine dining, concerts, fairs, corn, the
fall, the snow, festivals, diners, maple syrup, friends and
community. In their spare time they sing with
the Pioneer Valley Symphony Chorus. Both love
the kitchen and Don makes the best sweet potato
chips this side of anywhere. (Ask Eve or Peppy.)
